Mira Costa Real Estate and Neighborhood Guide

The Mira Costa neighborhood in Manhattan Beach is a beautiful and vibrant community located in the heart of one of Southern California’s most popular coastal towns. This area boasts a rich history, a wide variety of housing options, and a bustling community that is always active and engaged. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly environment, a place to retire, or a spot to call home while you’re working in the city, the Mira Costa neighborhood is an excellent choice.

Mira Costa History

The Mira Costa neighborhood was initially agricultural land owned by Francis Miyosaku Uyematsu in the early 1900s who founded Southern California’s famous Star Nurseries and imported and grew camellia and cherry trees, but who was tragically forced to sell the land due to the prejudice of the WW2 period. The land was then developed as housing for the many oil workers who were flocking to the region in search of work. The streets were laid out in a grid pattern, and many of the homes were small, single-story bungalows that were popular with working-class families. Over the years, the neighborhood has evolved and grown, and today it is home to a diverse population of people from all walks of life.

Mira Costa Homes

The Mira Costa neighborhood is home to a wide variety of housing options, mostly single-family homes with some townhomes and a few condominium apartments. Many of the homes in the area have been updated and remodeled over the years, and many of them feature spacious yards and beautiful landscaping and offer residents the latest in amenities and technology.

One of the defining features of the Mira Costa neighborhood is its spacious homes. The area is known for its large single-family homes, some of which offer breathtaking ocean views. These homes range in style from traditional beach homes to modern architectural masterpieces.

The Mira Costa neighborhood is located in the heart of Manhattan Beach, just a short distance down Gould Ave or Manhattan Beach Blvd to the beach and Strand. The area is bordered by Artesia Blvd to the south, Manhattan Beach Blvd to the north, Pacific Coast Highway to the west and Aviation Blvd to the east.

Why Live in Mira Costa

The area is known for its low traffic and lack of through-streets, making it a great place for families with children. Many of the streets in the area are also cul-de-sacs, which further adds to the sense of privacy and security.

The Mira Costa neighborhood is also known for its excellent schools. The area is home to the highly-ranked Manhattan Beach Unified School District, which includes Mira Costa High School, one of the top-rated high schools in California. The district also includes several elementary and middle schools, all of which have excellent reputations for academic excellence. Pennekamp Elementary School is also located within the community.
